Zitat
What should we look for over the near horizon?
I wish I could say more, but—the options are: resolving with the USL and NuRock, or forming our own league, or forming our own league and in turn partnering back with USL, or with the MLS, possibly.
If there’s a new league, it will have to be certified by the USSF and FIFA, right?
If there’s a new league, we’d have to file an application with the federation to be approved for a new league. But we meet all the requirements.
So that would be a formality?
I wouldn’t say that. It’s still a process, but we meet all the requirements.

Interessante (und traurige) Situation. Die Spieler haben keine Planungssicherheit. Viel Glueck!

Ab heute tagt der Krisengipfel in New York: http://www.insidemnsoccer.com/2009/10/06/ussf-meeting-in-new-york-with-usl-and-team-owners-association/

The United States Soccer Federation (USSF) is in New York and meeting with United Soccer League (USL) officials and members of the Team Owners Association (TOA). This confirms reports that IMS has received from several sources that Sunil Gulati, president of the USSF has called a meeting in his home state of New York to attempt to resolve the conflict. These meetings are scheduled to start today. It was also reported that a representative of Major League Soccer will also be in attendance for some of these meetings.
Soso, jetzt will also der gute Sunil alle parteien zu einer einigung ueberreden. Mal sehen was dabei rauskommt.

WECT Sports has learned that the United Soccer League has opted to remove the Wilmington Hammerheads from its list of franchises. Senior Director of Franchise Development Matt Weibe confirmed the move on Tuesday. "We have discontinued our relationship with Chuck Sullivan," Weibe said. "The USL is a franchised based league, where certain requirements must be met and in this case they were not met." When asked which requirements were not fulfilled, Mr. Weibe said WECT would have to contact Mr. Sullivan.

According to the letter, Holt claims that the players from those three teams are no longer under contract with the USL and that they have also “advised” the USSF. What’s curious is he also claims that the USSF have also released all players from their USL contracts and USSF registrations.

Krisengipfel geht weiter: http://www.indyweekblogs.com/sports/2009/10/07/usl-toa-reps-to-meet-with-ussf-for-a-second-day/

The meeting ended yesterday, inconclusively, and will continue today, RailHawks president Brian Wellman said in a brief phone interview last night.

"It seemed like at least a lot of the tension has stabalized because everyone finally got to meet face-to-face and everyone knows what everyone's goals are," Brian Wellman said. Outside of that, Wellman said most everything else is up in the air. "Outside of that, there's nothing definitive."

Team president Dave Irby, who has been involved with the Premier Development League club for 13 of those 15 years, said that "changes in the economy made it harder to keep the team operating." "It is with much sadness that we close down our Cascade Surge PDL team," Irby said in a letter to the league. Irby had hoped to sell the franchise but attempts to make a deal with potential buyers fell through.
