Carlos Salcedo to Houston Dynamo? - Agency has strong US ties

Major League Soccer side Houston Dynamo are involved in a potential blockbuster deal. According to an ESPN report, Mexican national team player Carlos Salcedo has received an offer from the Houston Dynamo. The Dynamo, however, pointed out on Monday that they have not made an official offer to Tigres UANL to sign the 27-year-old. 

"I can confirm we've been in touch with his representatives," Dynamo's general manager Matt Jordan told MLSSoccer.com reporter Tom Bogert on Monday. "We have not made a formal offer." Salcedo is currently represented by the YMU Group, which already has close ties to US soccer. Among the agency's clients are several US national team players. 

The agency also has strong links to MLS, having recently facilitated the transfer of Ryan Shawcross to Inter Miami CF. YMU also represents Marco Fabián, who has played for the Philadelphia Union. Salcedo has an MLS past; the defender is a Real Salt Lake Academy product and has played 25 games in MLS.

There are some significant obstacles, however, to make a deal possible. Although Salcedo's market value has dropped to just $5.5 million since joining Tigres from Frankfurt in a $9.68 million deal, the Liga MX is expected to ask for significant compensations. Earlier reports of $16 million are likely exaggerated. Still, even a fee of around $10 million would make him the most expensive signing in Houston's history and the sixth most expensive transfer in MLS history.
