Sven Ulreich to join Hamburger SV - Thioune: "Will get him if everything works out"

On Wednesday Sven Ulreich was not in the Bayern Munich squad that faced Borussia Dortmund in the DFL-Supercup (3-2). Instead, Alexander Nübel backed up Manuel Neuer. "It is my desire to be the number 1 somewhere," Ulreich said to the German magazine kicker. "The transfer market, however, hasn't thrown up to many options." Now a transfer to Bundesliga 2 side Hamburger SV is almost complete. 

As first reported by Transfermarkt, Ulreich has a deal in place to join HSV. All parties are more or less in agreement. Up until this point, a deal to sign Ulreich has been financially impossible but Bayern Munich have been financially accomodating. "We are working on signing Sven Ulreich," head coach Daniel Thioune said. "You have to be careful, as long as the contract isn't signed. As a result, we cannot confirm a deal but we are working on it. 

Later in the day, Bild have confirmed Transfermarkt's information. The newspaper reported that Ulreich will move in a deal that will be worth just below €2 million and sign a contract until 2023 in Hamburg. The Hamburger Morgenpost, in the meantime, suggested €500,000. After selling goalkeeper Julian Pollersbeck to Olympique Lyon, HSV had just two keepers under contract: Daniel Heuer Fernandes and Tom Mickel.
