He is known for his performances for Dina Moscow and the Russian national futsal team, with whom he won the 1999 European Futsal Championship. After his playing career, he became president of the Dinamo Moscow Futsal Club and also held senior positions in the Russian Futsal Federation.

Due to physical and endurance problems, he joined the futsal club Mekhanizator Dnepropetrovsk in 1991, which participated in the USSR Futsal Championship. Together with the team he became the winner of the only USSR Cup in futsal.

In 1991 he decided to move to Dina Moscow, where he won about two dozen team trophies and celebrated many personal successes. He was the top scorer in the Russian championship eight times in a row.

Eremenko is the best scorer in the history of the Russian national futsal team. He ended his career because of the identified risk of sudden death due to a congenital heart defect.

He was named the best futsal player of the 20th century. He scored 1132 goals in official matches and was therefore nicknamed "Russian Pelé".

Died on 18.03.2010 during a training match due to a cardiac arrest.
