Barcelona sign Gustavo Maia - Catalans had options to sign Brazilian
According to ESPN Brasil, Barcelona have made another signing for the coming season. The outlet reported on Tuesday that the Catalans have triggered their option to buy 19-year-old Gustavo Maia from FC São Paulo.
São Paulo's sporting director Alexander Pássaro announced in March that Barcelona have a first right of refusal to sign the attacking player. "We sold the first option for 5 million reais (around €910,000)," Pássaro said. "Barcelona can activate the clause mid-year for 25 million reais (€4.5 million)."
ESPN has reported that Barcelona have now paid the outstanding €4.5 million. São Paulo will receive 30% of any future transfer. Maia would become the fifth summer signing after Miralem Pjanić, Trincão, Matheus Fernandes, and Pedri.
